After almost a year of inactivity The Perfumed Garden returns with renewed vigur and enthusiasm. This time though it's not just about the sessions but full programs. Over the coming weeks and months this site will hopefully host the largest collection of shows on the net. There are just a few there at the moment but you know what they say. You have to start somewhere.
If anyone would like to become a contributer to The Perfumed Garden and do your own posts then please get in touch. The more the merrier. Very Happy

Hi,

As a fan of Peel I was one of many gutted by his passing - he was certainly irreplaceable. So, at this point I just want to thank you for creating this wonderful website where I can catch  shows I missed or the shows where I shamefully fell in my early teens (mid / late eighties) with an AM radio under the bed sheets warbling out that night's Peel show.

I moved to Canada in 1999 and regrettably only got to hear a couple dozen shows between then and John's passing. I was at work when I read the news on the BBC website- started crying at my desk...

My Canadian wife marvels at my enjoyment of a broad range of musical styles (Canadian radio is NOT GOOD- commercial radio at it's worst) and I attribute that directly to John Peel's radio programmes. Broad musical styles  = a broader cultural taste and leads to a broader socio-cultural understanding which is an amazing influence to have during a teenager's formative years (and beyond).

So, only my first visit back to your site in several months, imagine my delight to see that there are complete shows to download!!!  You, sir, are performing an esential and invaluable service. The missus (gone for the day) shall now have the chance to listen and understand exactly where I'm coming from! And for me, it's another chance... I'm currently listening to August 20th 1990 as I do the housework... thank you so much! It's not nostaligia because so much is fresh-sounding and often records might only have got a single play...

You have made my day. Again, thank-you.

Jonnyboy Very Happy
